They begin as glimpses.
Those behaviors, skills and attitudes unique to our children appear in seed form as newborns. As parents, we hold onto a paradox of sorts : staying in the present moments of being privvy to human development while also longing with anticipation to see the full blossoming appear. When do we get to witness a clearer picture of their design? How will God use it?
My youngest leaves for college next fall. This last year of high school is filled with classes in math and science as well as participation in Robotics Club. He is preparing to major in engineering. But I watched his design take root long ago in his engagement with legos. I watched and wondered…
As my daughter completes her culinary education, my mind recalls images of the tea parties she hosted in our home beginning as a preschooler. Neighborhood kids routinely feasted on juice and home made treats served on mini china sets while seated around a small table in her room. I watched and wondered…
My oldest is completing his college education in computer science, specifically virtual reality coding. His passion for the whimsical, child-like imagination, and passion for discovery have taken him to this place. I watched and wondered…
And still do. God is still at work. But as a parent, it is exciting to see fruit from the buds. Lives still in progress, I see the glimpses of what God is up to. And for that I give thanks.

I have two adult children, I love seeing how God has developed them into the amazing that they are. He clearly gifted them in their “chosen” fields. I am so blessed to be their mom!

So wonderful to watch isn’t it?
I remember telling my son that he is doing exactly what God designed him to do. I knew this becuase of the excitement and passion and energy he had when he was learning in his field. It is so awesome to watch him continue to learn and grow and serve in ways I had not ever imagined.
It’s such a blessing to have a front seat to seeing God’s hand shaping them.
This is one of my most anticipated things as a mom of two little girls, aged 2 and 4. I can’t wait to see how God gifts them and what their interests will be. I’m sure this is so gratifying, seeing your little babies grow up into their own and blossom, especially if they’re doing what they love for God’s glory.
Thanks for sharing!

Connecting the dots is an amazing experience. Thanks for stopping by!
I enjoyed this post. As I write this, my 6yo daughter is in a virtual art class creating things out of clay. My 9yo is also online playing with/learning coding. Like you I’m watching and wondering but “…I see the glimpses of what God is up to”. For that I also give thanks. It is awesome seeing them blossom in different ways as they grow up.
