God has always been in the business of interruption. Who could imagine a parting of a sea? A divine voice speaking to humanity from a bush or under a fig tree? A young boy defeating a giant? Subverting the image of a Kingdom? And Its Divine revelation manifested through the baby growing in the womb of a young girl as well as the prophecy through her lips?
Lauren Winner writes, ” Jesus interrupts the the normal order of things before He is even born-what is the Virgin Birth if not a transgression of the normal order” Throughout his life, in his teaching and preaching and friendships, Jesus shows up where he is least expected and does unexpected things once He gets there.”
2020 reminds us that we can never fully assume what lies ahead. We will be surprised by the events that unfold before us. But in the midst of it all, hope reigns. Because God never stops delivering, redeeming, reconciling, restoring. And we are called to be partners in it. To realize that at all times, we may be moved into unexpected places to be key instruments of holy interruption. Sometimes public. Sometimes behind the scenes. But in all things, proclaimers and movers in a Kingdom that’s founded on a God of interruption.
“Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! “ Isaiah 43:19

Yes! If we have an extraordinary God who doesn’t follow mere mortal’s playbook, why would we ever expect a ho-hum life with no interruptions! I’m learning to embrace them (even if I may kick and scream a bit at the onset of change).
Encouraging words. Thanks for sharing.
