“Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet.” (Ephesians 6:13)
As I woke up one morning, not too long ago, I recognized the heaviness that permeated through my mind and my soul. I knew the day ahead held some life changing information: the termination of my husband’s job. As thoughts about that situation spiraled through my mind, I was also aware that the day marked a another significant moment-my repurposing. God had brought me to a place for which I prayed long ago. Finally, I would be training to teach classes for the National Alliance of Mental Illness. Excitement competed with fear as I gazed upon the day that lay in front of me.
Satan attempted to distract me from fulfilling God’ purpose
Recognizing the battle at hand, I prepared to fight. I messaged a friend and told her what was brewing (and I didn’t mean the coffee). She prayed immediately.
“Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.” (Ephesians 6:14-18)
Do you know what happened? Peace permeated my soul.
Do you know what else happened? My husband lost his job. I ventured to my training. And in the midst of it all, God claimed the victory.
Have your armor on at all times. Satan will attack when you may not expect; when you feel least able to fight.
Identify those who can fight with you. We are not meant to fight alone.
Who will stand with you when you feel evil’s clutches zooming in?
Who can you contact to pray at a moment’s notice for you to resist the flaming arrows headed your way?
“Our fight is not against human beings. It is against the rulers, the authorities and the powers of this dark world. It is against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly world.” (Ephesians 6:12)
This is such an empowering post! I’m glad you shared it at the FMF thread!
