Have you ever experienced difficulty trying to discern God’s voice? Life can be just plain messy. But just because we can’t sense it doesn’t mean God isn’t speaking. We may be looking in the wrong place or failing to recognize God’s presence. Scripture tells us that there are many forms for God’s revelation. Elijah heard the voice of God in a whisper(1 Kings 19:11-13). Samuel was beckoned by a loud, audible calling (1 Sam. 3:1-9). Moses was the recipient of a double force: a bush afire with God speaking through it! (Exodus 3:2-4)
I call my blog, “Learn to Discern” because sensing God’s presence is critical to not only the big decisions but the everyday (often “routine”) moments of our lives. Where does God want you to make an impact on any given day? Has God been speaking to you in a way that you didn’t expect? Is there something (or someone) in your life that is leading you away from God’s current purpose for you?
I write about sensing the voice of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit in the midst of the places we encounter everyday. Our senses are awakened as we learn to look for God’s presence in our daily encounters. It’s a journey which I hope we can take together as walking partners. I’d love for you to share your stories and witnesses along the way.
Our narratives are a natural factor in our stories. Because of experiences my husband and I have had in raising our children as well as my background in Family Ministry, my passion for encouraging parents will also weave itself into the themes of some posts. The page “Help! THAT was not in the book!” provides further resources and encouragement for families encountering mental health challenges.
Please join me in this quest to discern how our Creator’s presence is made manifest in our lives.
